Furnance Design & Installation
Even With Our Short Winter Season, an Effective & Efficient Home Heating System is Key to Your Family’s Indoor Comfort.
At John’s Refrigeration, we are home heating and cooling experts…and
“expert” is not a term we use lightly.
For example, we can help you decide if and when it’s time to replace your existing furnace with a newer and more energy efficient model.
Time to Replace Your Furnace? Here’s What to Look For?
Your furnace is more than 15 years old.
Consider replacing with an ENERGY STAR qualified furnace, which is 15% more efficient than a conventional furnace. If you have a boiler, consider replacing with an ENERGY STAR qualified boiler that is 5% more efficient than a new, standard model.
Your equipment needs frequent repairs and your energy bills are going up.
The older your furnace gets, the more prone to repairs it becomes, even with regular maintenance.
Some rooms in your home are too hot or too cold.
Improper equipment operation, duct problems or inadequate insulation could be the cause.
Your home has humidity problems.
Poor equipment operation, inadequate equipment, and leaky ductwork can cause the air to be too dry in the winter.
Your heating system is noisy.
You could have an undersized duct system or a problem with the interior workings of your furnace.
When it’s Time for a New Furnace, the LAST thing we do is Install it!
Any qualified and licensed heating contractor can replace a “box”…that is, replacing an old furnace with a newer model. But with Johns’ you get much more than a simple “swap.”
You see, we want to make sure you get the right size furnace for your home: not too big, and not too small. We also want to make sure that you pay not one dime more than absolutely necessary to heat your home. To accomplish that, these are just some of the steps we follow:
- Check your ducts for cracks and leaks, and repair or replace as necessary.
- Make sure your ducts are properly sized. If they’re too small, for example, your furnace has to work harder to heat your home and that means bigger energy bills.
- Perform heat load calculations, which is how we determine how many BTU’s you need in a new furnace.
- Find out if you’re planning to add a new addition any time size or make any other major home improvements.
- Check your home for air leaks, coming in and going out.
- Check to see if warm air is escaping into your attic or any other unheated spaces that could also be adding to your heating costs.
Once all that’s accomplished, we can then recommend and install the right home heating system for your home.
Important Features of a New Furnace.
Variable Speed Blower.
A variable speed features two-speed operation that provides increased energy savings, quieter operation, more consistent heating, and greater humidity control.
Zoning
With more than one zone, your system can provide different amounts of heat and comfort to different rooms or parts of the house (zones) as needed or desired.
Air filtration
Some furnaces have air filtration features to help trap particles and to reduce the amount of dust blown through the ducts and the furnace system. That’s particularly useful for people with asthma or other respiratory problems.
Quietness
The best units are extremely quiet; in fact, several times quieter than other models, reflecting their variable-speed high-quality motors and well-insulated and noise-reducing cabinets.
