While programming most programmable thermostats can be a little bit tricky, not so with Nest.  Once the installation is complete, Nest will program itself by learning your heating and cooling habits.

In the process, Nest builds a schedule.  That’s right:  within about a week of installation, it creates a personalized schedule base on the temperature changes you’ve made.  This flexible schedule adapts to your changing life.

• Nest shows you how to conserve more electricity through a Green Leaf symbol which lights up each time you make adjustments that are energy efficient. How cool is that? It's a simple but effective way to save a little extra money on your electric bill.

With the Auto-Away feature, Nest will since you’re gone about two hours after you’ve left the house, and then adjust the temperature to avoid heating or cooling an empty home.The built-in Energy History function shows you how much energy you’ve used and if your temperature adjustments, Auto-Away, and/or the weather affected your energy use most.

• There’s a built-in sensor that can determine if you are in your home or if you've left home for any period of time. And, if you've left home, Nest is able to automatically adjust your thermostat to help save on your heating and cooling bill.

• Nest is controllable from your computer and from your smart phone. Imagine you're returning home from a business trip or a vacation…with Nest, you can adjust your thermostat from practically anywhere right from your smart phone.
