A central air conditioning system can work a lot more efficiently AFTER John’s has conducted a High Performance Test on your home.
To do so requires special equipment and training that very few local contractors possess.
But the real story is the VALUE of a High Performance test:
Reduced energy bills by ensuring you have the right size system, proper
insulation, effective air flow, and no leaks in your ducts or elsewhere that
allow cool or warm air to escape into your garage, attic, or other non-living
spaces.
Here’s how John’s Refrigeration goes about accomplishing just that:
Proper Sizing of Equipment
Installing the right size equipment for the home is essential to getting the best performance and comfort. Many homeowners believe that bigger is better when buying new heating and cooling equipment. But in reality, a system that's too large will not keep your home comfortable because of frequent 'on/off' cycling. Incorrect sizing can also put stress on system components and shorten the equipment's life. To ensure proper sizing your contractor should provide a copy of the home's heat gain/loss calculations for your records.
Sealing Ducts
To ensure that ducts are properly sealed we test the leakage rate. If the ducts are very leaky (i.e. more than 20% of the air moving through the system is leaking into spaces you do not want heated or cooled) we’ll seal with the best materials for the job. After that, we insulate your ducts to protect them from excessive heat and cold.
Proper Refrigerant Charge (Central Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps Only)
A properly charged heating or cooling system will operate more efficiently and help prolong its life. After testing your system, we’ll make appropriate adjustments, as required, by adding or removing refrigerant.Â
Optimizing Air Flow
If air flow in your heating and cooling system is too high or too low, you may confront problems and higher utility bills. We test and adjust accordingly.

Proper Installation
Even the best of home heating or cooling equipment can’t compensate for poor installation. So don’t just buy…ask lots of questions. Get referrals. Because once you do, we’re confident you’re choose John’s…
…for the best in year round indoor comfort.
