Our owner, Andrew John, was recently featured on the TV show, Sonoran Living Live, where he spoke about the importance of air filters.
Your Home Breathes
Just as we inhale and exhale, so do our homes. There are some filters on the market that prevent the home from breathing efficiently by blocking air flow. Other filters just prevent dust from getting to the coil without filtering the air in your home.
In this segment of Sonoran Living Live, Andrew John talks about the role of the air filter, which is to filter air from the home before it enters the HVAC system.
It’s important to have the right size and type of filter. When the filter is clogged, dust and dirt are blown back into your home, causing allergies or asthma. Changing the filter on a regular basis or utilizing a reusable filter like the one Andrew talks about in this segment is one of the best ways to keep the system running efficiently.
Did you know an air filter was originally meant to just keep dust and dirt from the coil of the A/C unit?
When most people think of an air filter, we think it prevents dust from entering the home, and while that’s true, it wasn’t always the case. The original purpose of the filter was to keep dust and contaminants from getting to the coil of the unit. When the coil of the unit is covered in dirt, the entire unit runs less efficiently. You’ll see the result in increased utility bills.
Depending on the type of air filter you choose, you can protect the coil while also filtering the air in the home. But air filters are just part of the system. The box, as we like to call it – the A/C and heating unit, ductwork, and air filter – work together to make your home efficient and healthy. When one isn’t working properly, it overworks the system, making it less efficient.
